European Province

Richard Fryer, who was noviced at Alnmouth Friary on 29th March, has taken the name Richard.

Benedict writes: Lambeth Palace approached me a month or so ago now to say that the Archbishop of Canterbury wished to present a new Dunstan Award (for Prayer and The Religious Life) to Brother Samuel; this award will be conferred at Lambeth on 31st March. Bishop Nicholas of Salisbury and I were asked to contribute to the citation and our SSF Province can rejoice and celebrate that Sam has been given this Award; and we are very glad that the Archbishop continues to promote the religious life and its renewal in the Church. Congratulations Samuel!

Samuel adds: “I burst out laughing when I opened the letter from Archbishop Justin – what have I done to deserve this? But I’m honoured to receive it as a sign of Archbishop Justin’s commitment to the life of prayer in the Church and the renewal of religious community life.”

Philip Bartholomew has been elected to the Advisory Council for Religious Communities.

During the second half of March: Thomas Anthony has moved to Leeds; Edmund has moved to Newcastle; and Christian Michael has moved to Crofton Road, Plaistow.
